Microsoft Office 2016 Vl For Mac 3,8/5 1736 reviews

Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me troubleshoot an activation error with Mac Office 2016. This error should not occur. My company has an Open License/Volume License agreement and I downloaded the 'MicrosoftOffice2016VolumeInstaller.pkg' from the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC).

  2. Office For Mac 2016 Upgrade

I have upgraded 7-8 users from Office 2011. The upgrade process I followed is: - Install Office 2016 - Open each 2016 application and configure preferences - When opening each application, I skip the 'Sign In' screen since we aren't required to activate Office 2016, nor for Office 2011 - Update each 2016 application to current version - Import Outlook 2011 email into Outlook 2016 - Delete the Microsoft Office 2011 application and Microsoft User Data folders. For one user, I left Office 2011 intact on their Mac.

I'll spare the reasoning. Anyway, this specific user was prompted to 'Activate Office to Create and Edit' files. The only fix, at least for now, was to delete the Office 2016 applications and any preferences I could locate, and reinstall Office 2016 again. Why am I prompted to activate Office when I used the MicrosoftOffice2016VolumeInstaller.pkg (no license key required)? - Could leaving Office 2011 on their Mac be the cause? - if this happens again, is there a fix other than deleting and reinstalling Office 2016? If more info is needed, please advise.

Don't dismiss this thread and move on. I am sure some MVPs with better knowledge might supply the correct area to ask your question. This is part of the Answer Forum and is generally populated with fellow users such as yourself and myself, with few MVP's sprinkled, and not generally Business related. We answer generally personal use questions and some Academic/Student related.: I would assume you would have to getting in touch with 'Support for Business/volume licensing' for this issue. It's even possible that you may have to. completely remove all traceas of both Office 2011, and 2016, then install 2016 per correct procedure. Then purchase a new old stock copy of the standalone version of Office 2011 Home/Business.(Amazon does/did sale old new stock Software for people interested.).

2016

Then, update to latest version (14.5.8 at this writing) for that one machine. With the current state of affairs with Office 2016. It's a good idea to keep at least one computer in your organization loaded with Office 2011. It may take a year or two for 2016 to come back up to level of 2011.

For Mac anyway up to this point Office 2011 (in particular, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), is the best ever version Office Microsoft has ever put out. And may actually go down in history 20-30 years from now, As the greatest Mac version ever created. My Most favorite though if bugs could have been removed, and made usable using intel machines. I would have to say of all Office versions I've ever used since 1995 would have to be Office 2004.

It was written before all this craze about Ribbons and tabs which to me has spelled a downward spiral. I guess I am one of these folks stuck in the past. I think a Computer should be used like a computer with menus and submenus and not like a game console or as a web browser. To me the ribbons and tabs actually slow me down, get in my way, as I am constantly having to decide what ribbon tab to click to get to the operation I want to do. I have hard enough time dealing with one application and use one thing at a time. Having the ability to have 8 or 10 things open at one time doesn't equate with efficiency for me.

Even today, if I can get to what I want to do through the main menus, I do that, and avoid switching tabs when possible. Disclaimer: The questions, discussions, opinions, replies & answers I create, are solely mine and mine alone, and do not reflect upon my position as a Community Moderator.
