The Charity and Stewardship Appeal is the annual appeal of the Diocese of Lincoln. First established in 1971 by Bishop Flavin as the Diocesan Development Program (D.D.P.), the appeal has provided for many of the needs of the diocese, especially Catholic Education.
Under Bishop Bruskewitz, the annual appeal was given a new name, but the Charity and Stewardship Appeal remained successful in supporting and expanding many diocesan programs and ministries. With the arrival of Bishop Conley, the appeal continues to support numerous apostolates such as Catholic Social Services, the Newman Center and Retreat House, Pro-Life and Youth Ministries.
Giving Tuesday This year, the CCA has selected the Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence (DGDP) as its official beneficiary for #GivingTuesday. DGDP are part of the Intellectual Disabilities Division of Catholic Social Services within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The organizations are dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. They foster a vibrant community filled with love, care, and acceptance based upon the Catholic faith. In partnerships with families, employees, and volunteers, their programs provide a continuum of care offering a wide range of programming options including Community and Campus-Based Living Arrangements, Life Sharing Through Family Living, In-Home Supports, Respite Care, and Day Programs. This #GivingTuesday, your donations will provide much needed assistive technology to these programs.
Assistive technology can have a significant positive effect in helping individuals with disabilities progress towards the goals outlined in their Individual Program Plans. Some examples include computer programs and tablet applications that provide text-to-speech speech-to-text, word prediction capabilities, and graphic organizers. By donating just $1 a day, you will support virtually every aspect of Catholic life for enrichment and improvement. There are close to 180 organizations and ministries counting on the Catholic Charities Appeal. By donating just $1 a day you can help a child in need, retired senior citizens, homeless individuals and families, veterans, the Church on college campuses and so much more.
